Chas10 a.k.a. Sam de Bruijn developed an interest in music from an early age. Coming from a very music minded family, he starting making and spinning music as a young teenager in the mid 1990’s. During this early period he focused mainly on rave, breakbeat, garage and drum’n bass. After a short trip abroad he turned his focus completely to the IDM genre. He found his inspiration in artists from labels such as Replex and Warp Records. The experimental and crossover nature of this electronic music was a real eye opener. IDM was an exciting genre which seemed to have no boundaries. Eventually he began playing and sampling many live instruments and incorporating the sounds into several new triphop/hiphop projects. Under the alias, Bensj, he became more involved in his music production.

His fascination with dubstep began when a friend introduced him to some early live mixes of the DMZ parties in the UK. A new love was born instantly. He was turned on by the relaxed vibes and low resonating frequencies which encompassed the sound of dubstep. He was also impressed by the diversity of the sound within the genre. Chas10's exposure to dubstep was just the push he needed to rebuild his studio and focus on his production. Hailing from Holland, he has been able to experience the rapid growth of Holland's active dubstep scene. Through the local network of club promoters and label owners, he has been receiving a lot of attention and positive feedback. This recent exposure has made him even more driven to carve out his own sound.
